Hi, Bonjour! I’m glad you’re here. I’m Ally, a Registered Social Worker and graduate of the Master of Social Work program at Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, where I’m also proud to be part of the Francophone community. I’m happy to offer services in both English et en Français!
My path into social work is deeply personal. I learned early on how much just one steady, supportive presence can change a life. For me, that presence was my rescue dog, Nibby (pictured). Over her 16 years, she showed me unwavering support and taught me the importance of unconditional love, being kind, slowing down, and savouring every moment (and french fry!). Her resilience has been a guiding force in my life, and ultimately influenced my decision to pursue social work.
Navigating challenges with complex family relationships, Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRB) such as skin picking and nail-biting, as well as an adult ADHD diagnosis, I understand how different systems can impact us, and I have a strong sense of empathy for others working through similar challenges.
I strive to build trusting relationships with my clients by offering a warm, non-judgmental space where they can feel safe and supported to grow. Whether you’re working through anxiety, depression, neurodiversity (ADHD/ASD/AuDHD), pet loss, relationship dynamics, grief and non-death loss, or other difficulties, I am here to listen and support you along your journey in a way that feels collaborative and supportive of your unique needs and experiences.
My approach to therapy is person-centred, anti-oppressive, strengths-based and collaborative. I also use and eclectic-blend of evidence-based therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Neurodiversity-Affirming Care, Narrative Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Somatic Therapy.
