Students and new clinicians
Learn trauma work with a team behind you.
We are a teaching clinic. Our interns build real competence with robust supervision, steady consultation, and experienced practitioners one door down.

From watching to leading.
At the start, questionnaires and consultations with the Clinical Supervisor set your areas of growth. The training plan is reviewed and recalibrated along the way, so your goals are actually met.
- 1
Observe
Sit in on sessions with senior clinicians.
- 2
Intake

- 3
Co-facilitate
Share sessions with a senior clinician.
- 4
Lead
Lead your own sessions, under supervision.
What you will do
- Assessment, case management and psychological treatment for adults, adolescents and children, using evidence-based interventions like CBT and DBT.
- Clinical documentation for every contact with a client: session notes, progress reports and treatment plans.
- Coordinating with other providers in the client's care, like a family physician or nurse practitioner.
- Outward referrals that call for advocacy, such as inpatient treatment, housing, psychiatry or medication.
- Ongoing training: 1:1 supervision with a senior clinician, group consultation, cultural competency and evidence-based intervention training.
- Community and online outreach that shows the value of treatment and skills like anxiety management, emotional literacy and communication.
How we track your growth
- Supervisor-shadowed sessions
- Documentation audits
- Client satisfaction surveys
- Client feedback and self-reported outcomes
- Client retention

- Monthly case management reviews
Clinical supervision
Supervisors who are still learning too.
Our Clinical Supervisors are licensed clinicians with extensive experience in trauma-focused treatment, and approved clinical supervisors with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).
To oversee interns and new clinicians, they have trained in the theory and practice of clinical supervision, and they keep training and receiving supervision themselves.
Supervision happens in person at the clinic and through online consultation. How often depends on your learning goals, your school's requirements, and the complexity of your caseload.
