Outreach Initiatives – Together we can accomplish more
At Kelly Mental Health, we strive to support our community. Outreach initiatives are the foundation of our community and important to our team. Throughout the year, we create local partnerships to help those in need. Take a look at some of past and present initiatives our team has been involved in.
The KMH Foundation supports individuals in a greater way and resolves the variety of challenges in our community, including the stigmas surrounding mental health. The KMH Foundation provides the opportunity to bridge the gap between individuals and psychotherapy treatment by creating solutions for those in need and strengthening support, compassion, and knowledge about mental health in the community. We support three specific campaigns from this organization: The Dayna Karle Memorial Campaign, The Andrews Fund Campaign, and The Light the Way Campaign.
We support the Thunder Bay Christmas Cheer Fund. Christmas Cheer is a volunteer organization whose mandate is the provision of toys for children living in poverty and hampers for their families at Christmas time.
As a Founding Sponsor, we support The Rainbow Collectives initiatives since the launch in 2021. It is an inclusive, supportive and empowering home for the Gender and Sexual Diversity (GSD) communities, including those in the Two-Spirit and Intersex community with various forms of attractions and other intersecting identities of Thunder Bay & Northwestern Ontario. This collective is growing into an impactful Gender and Sexual Diversity Social Movement whom emphasize transparency in everything they do, setting bold goals and pursuing a clear strategy that seeks to move the needle.
We support a variety of initiatives through our local Salvation Army. Specifically in 2021, we support their Santa Shuffle. The Santa Shuffle is a 5km Fun-Run and 1km Elf Walk for all ages and skill levels. Participants fundraise throughout the season to make a difference in their community.
Thunder Pride is a 2SLGBTIQ+ Community that supports all people in Thunder Bay and Northwestern Ontario to grow into an inclusive and diverse community. In 2020, we sponsored our downtown Rainbow Crosswalk. The crosswalks aim was to celebrate the LGBTQ community, bring awareness and hope to our community.
We support and sponsor a variety of initiatives through our local St. John Ambulance. St. John Ambulance is at the forefront, providing first aid training and medical assistance to people in need but with there incredible outreach initiatives, they do much more for our community.
Through various events, The GenNext movement is a unique opportunity that promotes a new and exciting way for the next generation of leaders to bring about change right here in our community, as part of the United Way of Thunder Bay. It’s not only about caring for the community but having fun while doing it!
We support and sponsor a variety of initiatives through the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce such as 100 People Who Care Thunder Bay and The Chamber's Charity Connect Program.
Operation Red Nose is a fundraising campaign for over one hundred youth or amateur sports organizations across Canada that we have supported for many years. Operation Red Nose is a free service and is offered to anyone who does not feel capable of driving due to alcohol consumption, fatigue, or any reason. Although it is a free service, donations are accepted and redistributed through community services.
