Workshops & Seminars Are
|
That all depends on how much activity you want for your group!
Seminars are lectures where the speaker does a lot of talking, and apart from a question-and-answer period at the end, participants are not expected to interact. They can calmly sit back and watch the show. Seminars are for sharing information and usually only require one speaker regardless of the size of the group. So pricing reflects the cost of prep, travel (not applicable if done online), and the time to complete the seminar itself for one Registered Psychotherapist or Social Worker. A workshop will take much of the same information as in a seminar, but will feature activities for your group so they have a chance to try out some skills, interact with one another, problem-solve, and discuss what they learn throughout the service. Workshops on mental health topics often need a little more help, so one facilitator can do a workshop for 10-12 participants at a time. Larger groups should ideally have 1 facilitator per each 10-12 people. This ensures that there are enough people in the room to guide each group in their activities, and that we have someone that can take people aside to offer a debrief if session topics trigger intense emotions, without interrupting the flow of the service. |
