The ideal candidate will have training in concurrent disorders, trauma, and a good understanding of the legacy of the Indian Residential School system given its impact in our community. We commit to providing training, supervision, and support to the right applicant no matter their experience level.
Staff members are able to set their own ideal schedule, chart in a centralized record system, access clinical supervision, participate in clinical team meetings, monthly consultation sessions for specific interventions (e.g., EMDR team, Couples Counselling team), engage in ongoing training opportunities, and be brave in what is commonly considered one of the most challenging and rewarding careers as trauma-focused mental health specialists. (To be fair, our robust support staff makes it easy for clinicians to focus on doing what they do best so they can go home at the end of the day able to be present with their families).
Job Responsibilities
Provide clinical assessment services to clients including clinical interview, administration, scoring, and interpretation of psychometric testing, and writing assessment reports and treatment plans.
Provide trauma-informed psychotherapy services using evidence-based modalities to treat clients with varied presenting symptoms such as depression, grief, anxiety, anger, and addictions.
Provide homework (e.g., worksheets, activities, challenges, etc.) to supplement in-person treatment and psycho-education throughout active treatment when appropriate.
Provide information to clients about informed consent, offer to communicate with referral sources and other healthcare providers
Collaborate with support staff to ensure scheduling preferences are managed effectively, clients are scheduled at recommended intervals, and new intakes are placed appropriately, inactive clients are followed up with, and clients reaching termination are discharged appropriately.
Complete relevant information about every material service activity related to clients (e.g., case notes) within one week of the occurrence.
Write and submit psychological progress reports as needed, ensuring all relevant health professionals (e.g., family physician) are informed about client’s progress.
Engage in activities, seminars, relevant coursework, and other educational opportunities to continue to provide services competently, ethically, and responsibly. Attend relevant clinical meetings, workshops, and training opportunities offered by Kelly Mental Health.
Engage in supervision meetings and documentation reviews with Clinical Supervisor in individual and group meetings. Consult with Clinical Supervisor on complex or high-risk cases. Engage in peer supervision as needed.
Creative Endeavours: Write articles, blog posts, and literature on relevant mental health topics of interest to the clinician. Share what you've learned, lessons you've helped individuals apply to their lives, and how to help our audience understand mental health better.
Design and deliver workshops, seminars, and training sessions for groups as opportunities arise
Qualifications & Credentials
Active registration as a provider in good standing with applicable governing organizations, such as the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO), College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), or Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
Professional liability insurance coverage (minimum 2,000,000 coverage)
Minimum 4-Year Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or Education with Counselling Psychology
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Gottman Couples Therapy
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT)
Crisis Intervention or Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD)
